Whatever it is that you do for self-care, make sure that it helps you go about your day with purpose, keeping your mind healthy and happy.
Self-care can be anything big or small that helps keep you Zen. Here are a few tips.
Do Something Special
Setting aside time for yourself isn’t selfish, it’s good for you! Whether you can spare 5 minutes or 5 hours, taking time to do something special can be incredibly beneficial during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
These are the kind of activities that let you take a moment to breathe deeply free of distractions. Bonus points if you disconnect from your phone while you do them.
Lighten Your Day
Even if you live in a warm climate that never sees snow, the days get shorter and the nights get longer in the winter. This extra darkness doesn’t need to put a damper on your mood if you add light to your life in other ways. Use candles, extra lamps, or a happy light to literally brighten up your days.
Keeping your body healthy helps you keep your mind healthy at the same time. If you start feeling stressed, separate your self-care from your gym routine and just go for a walk, hike, or bike ride. If the weather is cold, put on a coat and bundle up with your cutest scarf and hat combo, then take a stroll. Simply enjoy the outdoors without the pressure of torching calories or racking up steps.
